Important information

Following Information is available for both, babysitter or parents, to help you understand the workings of the Babysitting.lu website. If you have other specific questions, feel free to get in touch with the coordination of the website.

FOR BABYSITTERS

Why register?

Babysitting.lu offers you all the tools you need to participate as a babysitter.

The following tools and functionalities are available:

  • Manage your babysitter profile that is being displayed to interested parents
  • Extend your babysitting area to communes all around the country
  • Gain experience points in order to raise your babysitting rate
  • Manage all your babysitting requests in a simple online procedure

In order to be able to use that functionality, you'll need to sign up as a user of this site.

I do not have a babysitting certificate

You can still sign up at babysitting.lu, even if you don't have a babysitting certificate yet. If you sign-up but do not provide a babysitting certificate, your account will be automatically marked as "In need of training".

In that case, you will be alerted to where and when the next training will take place as soon as the training functionality – which is not yet active – goes live.

Once you received your certificate, upload it via the option “Edit your certificates” to ultimately receive the activation of your profile by the hands of the administrator.

How does a babysitting session run down?

The registered and validated parents can approach all babysitters and send them individual babysitting requests.

You will be notified (via sms, e-mail or dashboard) in case of a request. If interested in the session, you can simply accept it.

To clarify further details (transport, ground rules, payment) get in touch with the parents via the provided telephone or e-mail contact information.

As parent or babysitter, it is useful to respect the guidelines.

At the end of the session, the babysitter will be paid unless there were unexpected complications (misbehavior, etc.) which shall be communicated to the administrator via the feedback form. Afterwards, parents need to confirm that the babysitting session took place in order to let the administrator assign you the gained experience points.

In the case of a different duration of the babysitting session, please carry out the calculation of the total payment rate with the consent of the parents and indicate these changes as parent when you confirm the babysitting session on the website.

How does the payment and rewarding system work?

  • The hourly rate for babysitting depends on the number of children and your experience points.
  • You will gain experience points by babysitting.
  • The minimum rate for one hour of babysitting range is 7 EUR.
  • Every additional child adds another 1.5 EUR to the hourly rate.
  • The rate for an overnight stay needs to be agreed on between you and the respective parents.
  • As babysitter, you will be paid at the end of the session in cash by the parents.

FOR PARENTS

Why register?

Only authenticated (validated & logged in) parents will be able to access all parts and functionalities of the babysitting.lu website. A babysitter's profile picture, their age or place of residence is visible to authenticated parents only. Also, parents will have to set up accounts and have their authenticity validated by a local partner of the project before they can contact any babysitters.

We require parents to register and have their data verified in order to protect the rights and privacy of our babysitters, many of whom are minors.

Verification of your data gives the babysitters are certainty that you really are who you claim to be. Your data, such as your address and your phone number are automatically added to every request you send to a babysitter

What does the verification process look like and how long does it take?

The rationale behind account validation is to prevent babysitters from being contacted by people who may have other goals than finding a babysitter. So our validating your accounts before you have complete access to the babysitters and their data is a means to protecting minors' rights and privacy and preventing abuse of the babysitter.lu website for illicit reasons.

The local partner that will be in charge of your account - depending on the commune you're going to select during registration - will proceed to verifying if this person actually exists, if their address and contact data is correct and whether they themselves have registered on our site. Only after careful checking will your account be unlocked.

What are the general terms of a babysitting session?

  • The maximum duration of a babysitting is 8 consecutive hours (not including the time of an overnight stay)
  • The child's parents should go pick up the babysitter at her or his place of residence and also driver her/him back home. Exceptions to this rule can be made and should be arranged between parents and babysitters beforehand.
  • An overnight stay in between 2 and 7am is considered an integral part of a babysitting (and thus also compensated).
  • The rate-system is binding for both babysitters and parents
  • The babysitting form is to be completed after each babysitting. Experience points can only be attributed based on a completed form, which will be provided by the babysitter.
  • Payment of the babysitter is done at the end of the babysitting. It can only be in cash.
